Presbyterians invited to partnership conference in Czech Republic

Five days with four topics revolving around “Togetherness” marks the re-emergence of the Together on the Way conference sponsored by the Evangelical Church of Czech Brethren (ECCB) and the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.). Scheduled for July 9-13 in the community of Olomouc, a city in Moravia in the eastern part of the Czech Republic, the conference is extending invitations to participants from U.S. congregations, including young adults, to join guests from the Church of Scotland and Evangelical Lutheran Church in America to share faith practices, prayer and song — all while exploring the life of the church in the Czech Republic.

What does it mean to be a PC(USA) Peace Church?

The Presbyterian Mission Agency’s Militarism Working Group held its first Connecting the Dots webinar in 2023 on Wednesday, discussing what it means to be a Peace Church within the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.). Moderator Ben Daniel, pastor at Montclair Presbyterian Church in Oakland, California, opened the session by noting that talking about what it means to be a Christian in a time of war is an important conversation to have.

Presbyterian Mission Agency staff make good neighbors

APCE’s Marketplace, which features a bookstore and informational resources from various denominations, seminaries, and church-adjacent non-profits, is a major attraction at the annual event.

The Presbyterian Office of Public Witness and some of its partners held a webinar Wednesday about an environmental justice issue — depleted uranium contamination in Iraq — and the church’s desire for the United States to do more to help those affected by the crisis.  

PC(USA) World Mission video series to highlight Myanmar

A new video/webinar series highlighting the Christian mission in Myanmar (formerly Burma) will kick off later this month and run through February 2023. The effort, sponsored by the Presbyterian Mission Agency’s World Mission and its partners in the region, will provide context around the Southeast Asia country’s diverse culture and its fragile economic and political situation following violent regime change in 2021.

Representatives from Palestine, nations in Latin America and the Caribbean, 20 universities and academic institutions from four continents and several church bodies including the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) convened in Santiago, Chile Nov. 4-11 to participate in a conference addressing the theme of Christian Zionism and religious, political and economic fundamentalisms.
