As 1001 New Worshiping Communities celebrates 10 years of equipping spiritual entrepreneurs and church planters, the Rev. Nikki Collins, coordinator, and the Rev. Michael Gehrling, Associate for the Northeast Region and Assessments for 1001 New Worshiping Communities recognize the impact that their Discerning Missional Leadership (DML) assessments have had on the program’s evolution and successes. Both lifted up the impact that their lead assessor, Ann Steigerwald, has had.

It’s the Year of Leader Formation in the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.), and on Wednesday about 225 Presbyterians celebrated by tuning in to hear the Rev. Michael Gehrling deliver an engaging 90-minute talk on identifying and cultivating one’s individual talents and then coalescing those talents in a group setting, such as a church session, board of deacons or ministry team.

Pittsburgh Theological Seminary’s Church Planting Initiative has teamed up with the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.)’s 1001 New Worshiping Communities to create the book “Sustaining Grace: Innovative Ecosystems for New Faith Communities” (Wipf and Stock, 2020).
