PC(USA) hires new Manager for Diversity and Reconciliation

The Rev. Samuel Son has been hired as the new Manager for Diversity and Reconciliation in the Presbyterian Mission Agency (PMA) of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) He begins his work in Louisville September 5 and will report to the Executive Director’s office of the PMA.

Leadership institute equips immigrant women to serve church

The New Immigrant Clergywomen’s Leadership Institute begins this week in Daytona Beach, Florida, as approximately 17 female clergy from around the country gather to collaborate and develop leadership skills to better serve their congregations and the church.

National Black Presbyterian Caucus gathers in Detroit for 43rd biennial convention

Members of the National Black Presbyterian Caucus (NBPC) gathered in Detroit on July 13–15 for the 43rd biennial convention. The event offered something for everyone but made sure to offer topics of interest to youth and young adults. The convention provided an opportunity for NBPC members to meet with the Rev. Dr. J. Herbert Nelson II, Stated Clerk for the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.), and Co-Moderator T. Denise Anderson.

Young adults weigh in on PC(USA)’s efforts to dismantle racism

“This is what the future of the Presbyterian Church looks like!” Co-Moderator T. Denise Anderson declared to a group of nearly 40 young adults attending this year’s Presbyterian Intercultural Young Adult Network’s post-Big Tent gathering. Sponsored by Racial Ethnic & Women’s Ministries, the assembly of multicultural young adults ages 19-35 included individuals with ethnic backgrounds from five continents.

As the Rev. Stephen McCutchan, an honorably retired PC(USA) minister in St. Petersburg, Florida, and a member of the Presbyterian Writers Guild (PWG) Board, considered some months ago what workshop he might offer at the PC(USA) Big Tent event, he immediately thought of his longtime friend and former pastoral colleague, the Rev. Dr. Samuel Stevenson, honorably retired in Winston-Salem, North Carolina.
