My name is Heather Mansell, I am a recent graduate of Davidson College with majors in history and political science. I am originally from Indianapolis, but I have roots in North Carolina as well since attending school in Davidson and since my family moved from Indiana to Raleigh. I am interested in how the church functions in a social justice context, and I am excited for my YAV year so I can learn about all the different ways churches can work in the community to serve those on the margins of society. Churches are an important source of social capital and I hope to use my YAV year to gain an understanding of how churches can use their social capital to serve others and build community.
