Hi! My name is Erin Tolar. I’m 24 years old and most recently from Bloomington, Indiana, although I’ve also lived in Ohio, Virginia and North Carolina. I just graduated in May 2018 with my Master of Science in Education in learning sciences from Indiana University, with a previous bachelors degree in music from DePauw University in 2016. While discerning a call to seminary and likely future in nonprofit ministry, it became clear that I need time to re-center on what I value: growing in my faith through radical love, community engagement, pursuing equity and justice for all, and embracing the call to action. I found this to line up nearly perfectly with the pillars of the YAV program, and am so excited to be called to this ministry. I look forward to serving in a nonprofit in Asheville, and embracing the messy yet beautiful challenges of moving to a new place. I’m anxiously excited to learn, grow, serve and walk alongside my new community.
