Brian Herald is a recent graduate of the University of Louisville with a bachelor’s degree in music composition. Growing up, Brian’s more transformative activities were band and the Boy Scouts of America, where he attained the rank of Eagle Scout. He is an avid musician and enjoys playing in all styles and on many different instruments, though he is most proficient at guitar and saxophone. Brian was a member of the University of Louisville Cardinal Marching Band for six seasons, serving in several leadership roles, and on multiple instruments. He grew up in the First Presbyterian Church of Jeffersonville, Indiana, and is currently the music worship leader there on Saturday nights, which is a more contemporary service. Brian has worked for Pyoca Camp, Conference, and Retreat Center — a Presbyterian youth camp — in some form or another since 2012. In the summer of 2018 he is going to be the camp’s chaplain and will lead worship in both music and message. Brian is excited about the opportunity to grow in his faith and as a person through the experience of being a YAV. He will use the year to discern whether or not seminary is right for him and to get out of the area where he has spent nearly his entire life.
