Minute for Mission: Peace & Global Witness Offering

Peacemaking is active not passive, doing not waiting. Let’s let that sink in for a moment: Peacemaking is active, not passive; doing, not waiting. And this is A Season of Peace when we, the church together, are focused on seeking peace and reconciliation. Together we are building God’s house of peace where all are welcome, where all can find compassion, peace and justice.

A voice to affirm all people

The Washington Corrections Center for Women is both the largest and the only maximum and medium security prison for women in the state. It’s surrounded by barbed wire, and you have to go through five locked gates to get to the main population.

Sharing the peace of Christ with the world

The Peace & Global Witness offering — one of four annual special offerings of the PC(USA) — supports peacemaking and reconciliation ministry worldwide.

Minute for Mission: A Season of Peace

Congregations of many denominations extend the peace of Christ with a blessing during their service. “The peace of Christ be with you (and also with you).” It is a blessing offered and a blessing returned in kind. The peace of Christ is part of what our faith offers to us. Extending the peace of Christ is part of an active, engaged faith — a witness to what it means for us to be building the household of God.

The International Peacemakers are coming … online!

At this time of the year, the staff of the Presbyterian Peacemaking Program would traditionally be making final arrangements for the arrival of a dozen-or-so Peacemakers from around the world to fan out across the United States to tell their stories.

Season of Peace begins Sept. 6

In less than a month, Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) congregations will begin observing the Season of Peace, a four-week spiritual journey designed to deepen the pursuit of peace.
