A Joint Service and Covenant Between Govans and Knox Presbyterian Churches
Reflections from Ruling Elder Charese Jordan-Moore
On April 28th, it was my honor to share the Word at the joint service with Knox Presbyterian Church’s partner church Govans Presbyterian Church. On this occasion the churches joined in covenant relationship focused on our Matthew 25 commitment to Dismantling Structural Racism and Eradicating Systemic Poverty. Knox is a small 93 year-old Black congregation in the urban Oliver community in Baltimore and Govans is a larger, wealthier, predominantly white congregation, also located in Baltimore. The title of my sermon was Running With The Vision: A Covenant for Truth, Repair and Reconciliation. Without the first two, reconciliation is difficult. Pray for us as we run with the vision of Matthew 25.
