A great windstorm arose,
and the waves beat into the boat,
so that the boat was already being swamped.
But Jesus woke up and rebuked the wind.
A great windstorm arose
on the night Keith Scott,
a 43-year-old African American man,
was killed by police in Charlotte,
but she stood between protestors and policemen,
shoulder to shoulder with other ecumenical colleagues,
in peaceful demonstrations over two nights.
Rev. Amantha Barbee woke up and rebuked the wind.
A great windstorm arose
as the citizens of Trenton
were threatened by underfunded public education,
mass incarceration, immigrant criminalization,
and bullying of marginalized populations,
but she stood with Westminster Presbyterian Church
and became a partner for the disenfranchised.
Rev. Karen Hernández-Granzen woke up and rebuked the wind.
A great windstorm arose
because injustice afflicted “the promised land”
and even church people avoided the call
to join God in the struggle to build the kin-dom
by becoming repairers of the breach,
but she stood up to co-found and co-lead
the Kairos Center and The New Poor People’s Campaign.

A great windstorm arose
as global warming and climate change
began affecting our land, water, air, plants, and health,
and we discovered how poverty, race and ethnicity
impact our relationship to creation and to each other,
but she stood up to bring science and faith together
and to challenge the PC(USA) to become fossil free.

God of the storm and the wave,
give your people courage
to wake up, stand up,
and rebuke the winds of injustice today.

Se levantó una gran tempestad con vientos,
y de tal manera las olas azotaban la barca,
que ésta estaba por inundarse.
Pero Jesús se levantó y reprendió al viento.

la noche en que Keith Scott,
un hombre afroamericano de 43 años,
fue asesinado por la policía en Charlotte,
pero ella se paró entre los manifestantes y la policía,

pero ella se puso de pie para integrar la ciencia y la fe
y retar a la IP(EUA) a convertirse en una iglesia libre de combustibles fósiles.
