Lenten Devotional: Easter Sunday, April 1

Resurrection of the Lord: Because he lives!

Isaiah 25:8 • . . . he will swallow up death forever. Then the Lord God will wipe away the tears from all faces, and the disgrace of his people he will take away from all the earth, for the Lord has spoken.

Luke 24:5 • The women were terrified and bowed their faces to the ground, but the men said to them, “Why do you look for the living among the dead? He is not here, but has risen.”

Jesus has risen! The women who went to the tomb were greeted by an angel who announced the resurrection of Jesus.

The wait is over. The silence has been broken. Everything has come to completion. The words of the prophets have been fulfilled in Jesus.

The promise of the resurrection is our Christian inheritance. Through faith we have life abundantly. Live each day in grateful appreciation of what God has done.

And in the words of the Lord Jesus, “Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything that I have commanded you. And remember, I am with you always, to the end of the age” (Matthew 28:19–20).

Lord, because he lives we can face tomorrow. Amen.
