The Prophets and the Miracles of Jesus: Wash and be clean

2 Kings 5:10 • Elisha sent a messenger to him, saying, “Go, wash in the Jordan seven times, and your flesh shall be restored and you shall be clean.”

John 9:11 • He answered, “The man called Jesus made mud, spread it on my eyes, and said to me, ‘Go to Siloam and wash.’ Then I went and washed and received my sight.”

Jesus and the prophet Elisha healed with water. The physical washing represented a spiritual cleansing connecting faith to healing.

Jesus challenged the connection between suffering and sin that said that God punished sin with illness (John 9). This belief still exists today. Have you ever wondered if God was punishing you for something you did? Jesus has disavowed this teaching. The true connection is between faith and healing, not sin and punishment. This is the power of a God of love and grace. Be healed by his love!

Lord, heal me spiritually, physically, mentally and emotionally. Amen.
