The Prophets and the Miracles of Jesus: New life

1 Kings 17:22–23 • The Lord listened to the voice of Elijah; the life of the child came into him again, and he revived. Elijah took the child, brought him down from the upper chamber into the house, and gave him to his mother; then Elijah said, “See, your son is alive.”

Luke 7:14–15 • Then he came forward and touched the bier, and the bearers stood still. And he said, “Young man, I say to you, rise!” The dead man sat up and began to speak, and Jesus gave him to his mother.

Both Jesus and Elijah intervened when a mother’s only son died and restored his life.

God sent Jesus to be the bearer of new life and to release us from the fear of death and ensure that death’s hold was broken. Through faith, we are the inheritors of a new life granted in the name of Christ Jesus. Live your life with a new lease on life. There is nothing that can hold you back from living the life God intends. Christ has risen! And so shall we!

Lord, help us to be bearers of new life for a dying world. Amen.
