The Prophets and the Miracles of Jesus: I see you

Numbers 21:9 • So Moses made a serpent of bronze, and put it upon a pole; and whenever a serpent bit someone, that person would look at the serpent of bronze and live.

Matthew 15:30 • Great crowds came to him, bringing with them the lame, the maimed, the blind, the mute and many others, and they put them at his feet, and he cured them . . ..

The masses healed by Jesus are the invisible people the world does not see. Those without health care, impoverished, sick and dying. This blindness, the failure to see the humanity of others, is exceedingly cruel. But Jesus sees them and opens our eyes to see those hidden in plain sight. In the movie Avatar, the greeting of “I see you” is an affirmation of another’s existence. It is a gift to bless someone with an acknowledgement of their presence.

Do you ever feel that you are not seen? God sees you.

Lord, may we see other people fully and completely as children of God. Amen.
