Praise God, give voice
Psalm 150:6
Let everything that breathes praise the LORD! Praise the LORD!
Concerts are popular during Advent, especially the sing-along Messiah. They are a creative way to praise God and share the story of Christmas through instruments and voices. They allow everyone to contribute their unique sounds. If only that were true of human relations.
Unfortunately, we live in a world where not all voices are invited to join the chorus. As the Brief Statement of Faith confesses: “In a broken and fearful world the Spirit gives us courage to pray without ceasing, to witness among all peoples to Christ as Lord and Savior, to unmask idolatries in Church and culture, to hear the voices of peoples long silenced, and to work with others for justice, freedom and peace.”
What silenced voices can you tune into, empower and amplify during Advent?
God of Advent, you who spoke through a celestial choir, may we hear your voice in the terrestrial clamor. Amen.

Alaba a Dios, da voz a los silenciados
Salmo 150:6
¡Que todo lo que respira alabe al Señor!
Los conciertos son populares durante Adviento, especialmente las cantatas de El Mesías con participación del público. Son una forma creativa de alabar a Dios y compartir la historia de la Navidad con instrumentos y voces. Le permiten a cada cual aportar su sonido singular. Ojalá esto sucediera con las relaciones humanas.
Desafortunadamente, vivimos en un mundo donde no todas las voces reciben invitación para unirse al coro. Como confesamos en la Breve Declaración de Fe: «En un mundo quebrantado y temeroso el Espíritu nos da valor para orar sin cesar, para testificar de Cristo como Señor y Salvador ante todos los pueblos, para desenmascarar idolatrías en la Iglesia y en la cultura, para oír las voces de pueblos por largo tiempo silenciados, y para laborar con otros por la justicia, la libertad y la paz».
¿Qué voces silenciadas puedes escuchar, empoderar y amplificar durante Adviento?
Dios del Adviento, tú que hablaste por medio de un coro celestial, concede que podamos oír tu voz en el clamor terrenal. Amén.
