LOUISVILLE — There’s still time to register for and receive scholarships for the Presbyterian Older Adult Ministries Network national conference, set for Oct. 15-18 in Louisville, Ky.

Set for the Laws Lodge Conference Center at Louisville Presbyterian Theological Seminary, the conference features two keynote speakers from the Presbyterian Mission Agency. On Wednesday, Oct. 16 , PMA President and Executive Director the Rev. Dr. Diane Moffett will share the Matthew 25 vision and invitation for PC(USA) churches to focus on three priorities: building congregation vitality, dismantling structural racism and eradicating systemic poverty.

The following day, the PMA’s mission coordinator for Christian formation and small church support, the Rev. Dr. Jason Brian Santos, will speak to the conference theme: “Our Calling with the Generations: Intergenerational Engagement.”

Santos, along with PMA associate for Christian formation Stephanie Fritz, will on Oct. 15 host a pre-conference “think tank” event for small church leaders.

“We want to talk with them about small church ministry, their experiences, and what they have to offer and need around faith formation,” Santos said.  “Our hope is to listen and learn from them so that our efforts are informed by their context, rather than presuppositions about their church lives.”

Partial scholarships are available for small church leaders to attend the think tank and conference, which focuses on intergenerational faith formation.  The deadline for applications is Sept. 1.  As a way of growing the network, partial “first-timer” scholarships are available for those attending their initial POAMN national conference.

“This conference will provide inspiration, encouragement and connection for congregational leaders and parishioners involved in ministry to, with and among older adults,” Fritz said.
