Ian Hall, the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.), A Corporation’s chief operating officer and chief financial officer, had mostly good news for the A Corp Board Friday while presenting a financial report comparing June 30, 2022, to June 30, 2021.
On Monday the Presbyterian Writers Guild celebrated the work of three authors during an awards presentation all too familiar over the past 2½ years: via Zoom, rather than the in-person General Assembly venue that members much prefer.

The Rev. John Thomas “Jack” Mathison, navigator of peace, died on May 24 at age 97 after a period of declining health, in Richmond, Virginia, according to an obituary published in the Washington Post this week. He was the widower of Elaine (Sauerwein).

The Rev. Bill Chadwick, a retired pastor in Minnetonka, Minnesota, has been chosen winner of the Presbyterian Writers Guild’s Best First Book Award, co-sponsored by the Presbyterian Publishing Corporation. Chadwick, a graduate of San Francisco Theological Seminary, won the prestigious award for his memoir “Still Laughing, Still Learning (Still Looking for a Good Title).”

The Board of Pensions of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) has appointed Vivian D. Wesson as Executive Vice President and General Counsel. The appointment of Wesson, most recently Chief Intellectual Property Counsel for Marsh McLennan, forwards the agency’s commitment to providing strength and stability in support of the changing Church.
It fell to Mid-Kentucky Presbytery to set sail on a shakedown cruise Monday with the just-out-of-the-box technology that will be used during the hybrid 225th General Assembly, which begins June 18.
The Rev. Margaret E. “Peggy” Howland, the 12th woman to be ordained as a Presbyterian pastor, was remembered last weekend as a way-paver and fierce advocate for those whose voices were ignored or marginalized for too long.
