A decision at the last General Assembly led to historic events in Alaska

GA225 called for the church to issue an apology and reparations for a grave historic injustice in Juneau, Alaska. See how the church responded

Special to Presbyterian News Service

In the summer of 2022, the General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) directed the Office of the General Assembly to offer the denomination’s official apology and monetary reparations for the racist manner in which Memorial Presbyterian Church in Juneau, Alaska, was closed in 1963.

See how this GA direction out of the Race and Gender Justice Committee led to historic and profound meetings and moments, and how this work will continue in the video above or here.

You can also see lightly edited video of the apologies issued by three expressions of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) and the responses here.
