My name is Martha Fulp-Eickstaedt, and I am super excited to serve in Los Angeles for my second YAV year! I am from Arlington, Virginia. I double majored in Creative Writing and Psychology at the University of Virginia, where I played the sousaphone in the marching band (I’m kind of a dork). I enjoy reading and writing, and recently I’ve taken up the trombone. This year I have been serving as a YAV at the Furniture Bank of Metro Atlanta, an organization that provides free furniture to individuals and families transitioning out of homelessness, fleeing domestic violence or living with HIV/AIDS. I have learned a lot this year about systemic injustices like mass incarceration and chronic homelessness and am thrilled about the opportunity to live and learn in Los Angeles this upcoming year
