Hey y’all! My name is Kristina Meyer. I was raised in Richmond, Virginia, and I’m a recent graduate of Elon University with a bachelor of arts in religious studies. After my first year of college, I heard God calling me to seminary, but did not know where or when or why. Through my academic research interviewing individuals of faith about how their faith influences their social justice work, God guided me towards chaplaincy. I knew, however, that I needed more life experiences before I was prepared to follow that call. College provided me with theoretical and theological frameworks, but I’m looking forward to a year of service to learn how to embody the values that Jesus taught. I see myself called to bridge-building within a polarized nation that often dehumanizes each other. I’m looking forward to spiritual growth through this year of service, learning skills that will better equip me to follow God’s call toward chaplaincy, and enjoying deep fellowship with my community partners and fellow YAVs!
