Hello everyone! My name is Katheryn McGinnis and I’m 21 years old, born and raised in Hickory, North Carolina. I recently graduated in December of 2015 from Lenoir-Rhyne University with a major in religious studies and minor in psychology. Upon graduating, I spent five incredible weeks backpacking through New Zealand and since then have spent some time working and traveling throughout the US. I grew up worshipping at First Presbyterian Church in Hickory and spending summers in the mountains of Montreat, where I was grateful to serve two summers as a Wilderness Ranger on staff at Montreat Conference Center. I love theology, mountains, and just living out of my pack. After my YAV year, I plan on pursuing my Masters of Divinity at Princeton Theological Seminary. As I go into this incredible journey serving as a YAV in the Philippines, I am filled with great joy and gratitude, knowing another adventure is about to unfold. I am ready to serve and witness God’s wonderful creation that is the Philippines!
