My name is Brittany Heun. I am from Caldwell, New Jersey, and I’m 24 years old. I studied history and religion at Montclair State University, in Montclair, New Jersey. I graduated from MSU in May 2016 with a Bachelor of Science degree in history. While studying religion I developed an interest in learning about religions, including my own. I was given the opportunity to attend the 222nd General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) in Portland, Oregon, as a Young Adult Advisory Delegate. I left Portland with a newfound passion for the church, and desire to do more for my church, and for my community as well. Thanks to my time as a YAAD, I learned about the Young Adult Volunteer (YAV) program and how it might be just what I need to fulfill my desire to serve. Though my path is unclear, I know that for now I have been called to serve God’s people through the YAV program. This coming year I will be serving as a YAV in Asheville, North Carolina, and I couldn’t be more excited about it. Hopefully, If I’m lucky, I can walk with the folks of Asheville as they discover God’s purpose for them. Who knows, maybe by helping them on their journey, I will learn a little bit more about myself and my journey in this life!
