Hi! My name is Helen and I’m excited to be serving in Scotland for the upcoming year! I grew up in the suburbs outside Richmond, VA and attended college at the University of Mary Washington where I studied history and political science. After graduating, I spent two years working at Sojourners in their advocacy department. I’m passionate about educating and mobilizing the faith community around different social justice issues in order to help build God’s kingdom on Earth. In my spare time, I enjoy baking, writing, exploring museums, and finding new tv shows to watch (or just rewatching my favorites).
One aspect of my upcoming YAV year that I’m most looking forward to is connecting with people. Especially given this past year and a half where people have had to keep apart, I’m looking forward to being with people and having the chance to form strong relationships.
