Faith-Community Supported Agriculture (FSCA) Program

For a couple of decades, Community Supported Agriculture programs (CSAs) have been a way for families to partner with farmers and gardeners to get a weekly supply of fresh produce during the growing season. Families or individuals purchase a membership in the CSA and in return they get a weekly basket of homegrown vegetables. A CSA is a great way for a farmer or gardener to market their products. One of the benefits of a CSA is that it brings consumers closer to the source of their food – the people who grow it, the stewardship of the land, the joys of a bountiful harvest, and sometimes the heartbreak of years when the harvest is not as plentiful. That last aspect is important in a CSA. Members not only share in the bounty they share in the risk of a down year.
