Impact of Environmental Injustice on Low-Income and Communities of Color

When: November 14, 2017 12:00 PM EST

Race, class, and power pervade issues of environmental and economic justice. People of color and low-wealth communities disproportionately bear the brunt of environmental degradation. They also are impacted to a greater degree by a lack of access to environmental benefits.

Join the Presbyterian Hunger Program and Self Development of People on this webinar which will explore racism in environmental laws, zoning and regulation as well as theology and religious practice, and the impact of environmental injustice on the development of low-wealth communities. We will hear from faith leaders about environmental justice movements and discuss ways to get involved.

Along with Rebecca Barnes of PHP and Margaret Mwale of SDOP, featured speakers include:

Shantha Ready Alonso, Director, Creation Justice Ministries

Elona Street-Stewart, Delaware Nanticoke, Synod Executive, Synod of Lakes and Prairies

Grace Ji-Sun Kim, Activist and Author
