Cameroon Christian College, also known as College Evangelique de Libamba, was the first secondary school to be opened for Africans in Cameroon. At one time the school was considered to be the “darling of the mission,” and there were as many as 11 American Presbyterian missionaries on staff. It is now fully staffed by Cameroonians. While this represents a successful development of Cameroonian faculty, it has increased the burden of staff salaries to be borne by local sources. The needs at Cameroun Christian College are great as it struggles to overcome economic difficulties and a deteriorating infrastructure while trying to be a Christian witness and rebuild its academic excellence.
