I am Miranda Fry, and I have lived in Knoxville, Tennessee, for nearly five years. Knoxville has shaped who I am as an adult, as I have transitioned into and out of college. I am filled with gratitude reflecting on the jobs, classes, friendships and faith communities that guided me through the trials of early adulthood. The Presbyterian campus ministry at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, introduced me to the Young Adult Volunteer (YAV) program, and my pastor there encouraged me throughout the application and interview process. I discovered my call to participate in the YAV program as I learned more about it, and I am grateful and excited to be serving in Tucson, Arizona, in 2018–19! I can’t believe I am finally leaving Knoxville, but I hope to find spiritual challenge and faithful community that will guide me through my next year of life. I will be serving alongside other YAVs and children of God who have their own stories to bring to the table, and I cannot wait to see how all of our gifts will come together to serve the Kingdom in Tucson!
