My name is Colleen Kimberly Ames. I am 29.  I have five siblings, one of whom is also a YAV this year, and a puppy named, Caspian Walter D’artagnan Mogwa. He is a very lovable, 2 pound Chorkie who thinks he is a Great Dane. He is just about the best pooch you could ask for.   I am currently working at Camp Carew in Makanda IL. Every day here is filled with laughter and music.  Camp fires and sweet spirited campers make every day at Carew a gift.

When asked to tell a little about myself, I never really know what to say… I love new places and people. I love to learn new things and experience new things.  I have worked various jobs in diverse fields. My favorite was working for the MOUSE at Walt Disney World. I did an internship there when I was 21 and completely loved it!  I attended Bible College studying missions and JALC for music and EMT courses.  I also received my Phlebotomy certificate there. In 2008, I went on a mission trip to Japan and got to climb Mt. Fuji. (My only claim to recreational amazingness.J)

While growing up, we moved a lot and because of this, we attended many different kinds of churches.  This has taught me that faith and religion are not the same. Two people can read or hear a verse and understand it differently. I believe that faith is what you carry in your heart and what lives in your soul.  I believe that the best way to share your faith is to live it and give it through love. That being said, the last and most important thing to know about me is… I believe in Love. I believe in its healing and saving power. The love of the Father. The love of His Son. The Love we have to share with others and the Love we hold inside ourselves.
