What is the theme of the 2012 Churchwide Gathering?
The theme is “River of Hope,” based on Psalm 46:4–5 (nrsv):
There is a river whose streams make glad the city of God,
the holy habitation of the Most High.
God is in the midst of the city; it shall not be moved;
God will help it when the morning dawns.
When is the 2012 Churchwide Gathering?
The Gathering begins with dinner on Wednesday, July 18, 2012, and concludes after the morning plenary on Sunday, July 22, 2012.
Where will this Gathering be held?
The Gathering will be held at the Gaylord Palms Resort and Convention Center in Orlando, Florida.
Who attends the Gathering?
More than 2,000 Christian women (and a few men!) from across the country and around the world will come together for this triennial event. Past Gatherings have included people of all ages and from more than 20 countries.
What happens at the Gathering?
Lots! Join inspiring plenary (large group) sessions, including worship services. You’ll experience a variety of learning opportunities, such as forums and workshops; inspiring speakers; uplifting music; and so much more! Witness the installation of the newly elected leaders of the PW Churchwide Coordinating Team. Stroll through the beautiful Gaylord Palms Resort, where you can view many displays and exhibits and enjoy many interactive opportunities. Shop in the Enough for Everyone Global Marketplace and Resource Center/Bookstore. Get excited about the future of Presbyterian Women at the Business Meeting, where PW's 2012–2015 leaders will be elected, a budget will be finalized and programmatic emphases will be chosen. Take in some of the fun spots that only Orlando has to offer.

How much will this Gathering cost?
Registration as a full participant on or before May 15, 2012, is $440. After that date, registration is $480. Full registration includes five meals (lunch on Thursday and Friday; dinner on Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday), all programs, tote bag and program book. Hotel, travel and other meals are additional.
What if I can only attend part of the Gathering?
Weekend (Saturday and Sunday) registration is $155; one-day registration is $95.
What else should I know about registration?
You will need to submit one registration for each participant. Workshops and forums are for registered participants only.
Are scholarships available?
Limited scholarship aid is available for the cost of registration only. Please contact your Presbyterian Women in the Presbytery moderator.
I’m a voting rep. When should I be available for the Business Meeting and Business Meeting orientation?
Voting representatives, who are elected by the synods and presbyteries, will need to be available
- Thursday, July 19, 12–5 pm (lunch included)
- Friday, July 20, 12–4 pm (lunch included)

What hotel accommodations are available?
Housing and programming are all under one roof at the Gaylord Palms Resort and Convention Center. Special hotel room rates have been arranged at the Gaylord Palms. These rates will be available July 15–25, 2012 (includes three days before and three days after the Gathering, based on availability). Room rates are per room, per night, one to four persons per room, and are subject to tax. To take advantage of the special Gathering rates and waived resort fee, book your reservation anytime after beginning December 1, 2011 but before June 27, 2012. After June 27, the hotel may charge significantly higher rates.

- Suite — $229, plus parking/night and tax* (some suites higher)
*Parking rates subject to change. Currently listed at $13 per night. All accommodations are subject to a 14 percent tax (subject to change).

If flying to Orlando, take advantage of the special rates between the Gaylord Palms and Orlando International Airport (MCO)—$10/per person each way. You may reserve and pay for your airport shuttle during registration even if travel arrangements are not finalized.
For arrivals on Monday, July 16 and Tuesday, July 17, shuttles will run every hour, 10 am–6 pm; on Wednesday, July 18, every 20 minutes, 8 am–6 pm. (Note: These hours have been extended since the publication of the registration booklet.) For departures on Sunday, July 22, shuttles will run every 20 minutes, 8 am–3 pm; on Monday, July 23, every hour, 8 am–noon. Bus will take approximately 30 minutes to get to the airport. Plan on leaving Gaylord Palms two hours or more prior to your flight departure time. Advance reservations and payment are required at the time of Gathering registration. For arrivals or departures outside these hours, arrangements should be made with the Gaylord Palms or at the airport.

Can you tell me more about the theme?
“River of Hope” asks us to focus on two concepts—water and hope. Both are necessary to sustain life, but both are in increasingly short supply. The 2012 Gathering will be an opportunity to find hope in our faith, celebrating Jesus (our living water) and the ways the Spirit flows through us.
May I bring my child or spouse to the Gathering?
Yes! There will be programs for children ages 6 months through 12 years. Thanks to a generous donation, group child care at the Gathering is available at a (much-reduced) rate of $2.50 an hour! Professional caregivers will offer age-appropriate games, arts and crafts, movies, music and more. Advance registration (by June 15, 2012) is required.
Group care will be available as follows:
- Wednesday, July 18: 6:45 –9:15 pm
- Thursday, July 19: 8:30 am–5 pm; 6:30–9 pm
- Friday, July 20: 8:30 am–5 pm
- Saturday, July 21: 8:30 am–5 pm; 6:30–9 pm
- Sunday, July 22: 8–11:30 am
Childcare prices don’t include food, but you can add the plenary/five-meal pass for $250 or purchase food from Gaylord’s restaurants or the nearby restaurants and grocery stores. Call (407) 828-0901 to make a reservation for your child or to learn more.
And of course, any adult is welcome to come to the Gathering. Bring your spouse, mother, cousin, neighbor or another member of your church and extend your time in Orlando for a vacation!

Online registration is open. Registration by mail, fax or phone opens January 15, 2012. Look for the registration booklet in your September/October 2011 issue of Horizons, order a printed copy from Church Store or download a copy.
