Two documentaries produced by PDA are to be released this fall, and we need your help to have them aired on your local NBC and ABC stations.
Coming Home: Hurricane Katrina Five Years Later
Coming Home is the story of how hurricane survivors and volunteers helping in the rebuilding efforts have touched each other’s lives. Since 2005, more than 50,000 volunteer missions have cycled through Presbyterian Volunteer Villages and congregational hosting sites in the Gulf Coast, donating more than 2.4 million hours of labor.
This documentary, alternately heart-wrenching and deeply inspiring, is available on NBC stations beginning in September. One homeowner, Mr. Martin, said that he has struggled for the last five years to live his life in the “shadow of Katrina,” but after watching the broadcast and his participation in the film, he has been able to heal, and for the first time, "Katrina has left him to move on."
Find out if your NBC affiliate has committed to air the program (available September 12, 2010 – March 13, 2011). Ask your congregation and community to call your local station if it is not yet scheduled, and request the Horizons of the Spirit program, “Coming Home: Hurricane Katrina five years later.”

Download and print a bulletin insert or an 11x17 poster to promote watching the NBC program if it is already scheduled to air in your hometown. Fill in the date and time for your local broadcast, then share with your congregation and community.
Kepulihan: Stories from the Tsunami
Kepulihan chronicles the struggles and triumphs of three tsunami survivors as they rebuild their communities and reclaim their lives in the aftermath of the December 26, 2004 tsunami in southeast Asia.
Yadi, Mahmud, and Damai tell their stories in a unique time-lapse documentary that captures the journey of healing and transformation over four years. This show, part of the Vision and Values series, is available on ABC stations beginning in November.
