I am from the town of Gig Harbor, about an hour outside of Seattle, Washington. I graduated from Whitworth University in 2007 with a degree in Sociology. For the past year, I have been an intern at Sammamish Presbyterian Church, working with middle school students. I love working with children and youth and am passionate about learning how to foster healthy communities. A few years ago I had the wonderful privilege to be involved in a young adult peace and reconciliation trip involving Israeli and Palestinians. As a result, inter-communal reconciliation and healing has become a key theme and fascination in my life. This coming August I will be heading to Northern Ireland as a Young Adult Volunteer. In Belfast I will be volunteering at Newtownbreda Presbyterian Church and South Belfast Friendship house. I am so excited for this new chapter in my life and cannot wait to see what God has in store for me in Belfast.
The Young Adult Volunteer program is a year-long service program for young adults between ages 19 and 30. Read more about the YAV program here
