Megan Bell
YAV in Nashville
Nashville Epiphany Project
My name is Megan Bell. I am 22 years old and from State College, Pennsylvania. I graduated from The Pennsylvania State University in May 2011 with a degree in nutritional sciences and a minor in human development and family studies. I was really unsure of how I would like to use my degree and so I decided to take year off and participate in something completely different, but something that would be meaningful and empowering. I was accepted into the YAV program at the Nashville site and I am thrilled about the experiences this year will bring. I have been partnered with Preston Taylor Ministries, an inner-city after school program for K-8th graders that provides reading instruction, homework help, tutoring and enrichment activities with a strong focus on building relationships. This is exactly the kind of opportunity I was hoping for in my 'year off' and I expect to learn a lot about myself while stepping outside my comfort zone in many ways. I can't wait for the coming year and sharing my experience with others.
The Young Adult Volunteer program is a year-long service program for young adults between ages 19 and 30. Read more about the YAV program here
