I began to seriously consider joining the Young Adult Volunteers when Heidi, the site coordinator for Miami, described the need and opportunities of the Yvonne Learning Center. She and I grew increasingly excited as we realized that my passion for teaching, my developing interest in the Haitian community, and my desire to live and fulfill a need within the family of God all converged in a seemingly perfect match with the needs of this school. I pray that my work in this community will build on spiritual and academic opportunities for the students and faculty of the Yvonne Learning Center and give myself and those I serve a better understanding of what it means to dwell in the body of Christ.
The Young Adult Volunteer program is a year-long service program for young adults between ages 19 and 30. Read more about the YAV program here
