Kristi was born and raised in Dallas, Texas. She is a candidate for ordination in the Presbyterian Church (USA) and a member of North Park Presbyterian Church in Dallas. Kristi graduated from Schreiner University in Kerrville, Texas with a bachelor’s degree in Psychology and Religion. Upon graduation, Kristi entered seminary at Austin Presbyterian Theological Seminary and has completed two years of her coursework. She hopes to graduate in May of 2014 with a double Masters in Divinity and Social Work. Currently, Kristi's vocational goal includes Pastoral Care and Counseling.
Taking a year off from her Seminary studies, during the 2011-2012 year, Kristi will be a Young Adult Volunteer in Quetzaltenango ("Xela"), Guatemala. In Xela, Kristi will be working with Ceipa and Iglesia Episcopal San Marcos. Kristi will work at Ceipa with their elementary education program. They have small schools for children who work and have missed years of school, so they are now too old for their grade in public school. Kristi will be in the classroom each morning, supporting the teacher however is needed and spending some one-on-one time with the students in a tutoring and mentoring setting. Kristi will also be working at the Iglesia Episcopal San Marcos (St. Mark’s Episcopal Church) which has a lunch program and provides a social space for elderly people of scarce economic resources.
Kristi knows that this year’s experience is going to be life-changing for her. It will involve living outside of her comfort zone and what is familiar to her. It will involve focusing on the needs of others. It will involve journeying in faith and trusting God in new ways. Kristi thanks you for your prayers and for whatever support you might be able to give.
The Young Adult Volunteer program is a year-long service program for young adults between ages 19 and 30. Read more about the YAV program here

Hi Kristi. My daughter, Alanna, will be in Guatemala June 18-24 with the Flint River Presbytery group. She is a senior in high school and plans to major in Social Work eventually getting her MSW. Her dream is to be able to combine Social Work with Missionary Work. You are scheduled to be her guide while in the country. Isn't our God AMAZING. Praying for you and your YAV experience!
