I am from Richmond, Virginia and I recently graduated with a journalism and history degree from the University of Richmond. As an active member of Pi Beta Phi fraternity for women, I worked enthusiastically with our various philanthropic events and volunteering opportunities. I am also a huge sports fan and served as the sports editor of our college newspaper.
I wanted to serve as a YAV this year because I knew there was something more to life than landing a "real" job right out of college. Even if I didn't know what the reasoning was at the time, God certainly knew His plan for me. I will be working at the Church World Service in Nairobi, Kenya, where I'll be doing anything and everything media/journalism-related: photographs, movies, blogs, newsletters, you name it, I'll do it!
The Young Adult Volunteer program is a year-long service program for young adults between ages 19 and 30. Read more about the YAV program here
