International Health & Development
International Health & Development (IHD), a program office of World Mission, works with church partners overseas, with mission co-workers, and with Presbyterians in the U.S. to address the underlying causes of disease, care for the sick, and alleviate conditions that perpetuate poverty. IHD helps church partners build their capacity to break the cycle of disease and poverty in their communities, by facilitating and supporting efforts that are holistic, have long-term impact, and focus on the particular needs of women and children.
International Health and Development Programs
International Health and Development focuses efforts on programs that can have long-term impact on the well-being of families, in geographic areas where the needs are the most critical. Many of the ministries supported by International Health and Development also honor historic commitments to health care institutions that were established by pioneers of Presbyterian mission.Continue reading

Helping where it’s most needed
Healthy Women Healthy Families assists health programs of PC(USA) partner churches in four sub-Saharan countries: Malawi, the Republic of South Sudan, Ethiopia and the Democratic Republic of Congo. In each of these nations there is extreme need, strong partner church relationships, and mission co-workers serving with our partners. The health services supported through Healthy Women Healthy Families are those that address the particular needs of women and children. In response to the changing needs of the world and its own diminishing resources, International Health and Development has drafted a strategic plan to make its work on behalf of our partner churches both more intentional and more effective. “Building Healthy Communities“ will be the theme underlying IHD’s activities, as the office lives out its mandate to help partner churches respond to the health needs of the poorest of God’s people.Continue reading
