Growing in Your Relationship
Your church has entered into a relationship with another people group. Like all relationships, it can grow in many different directions. So be ready for an adventure and be creative. Prayer and learning about your group are key though.
Research – Learn about your group. Valuable resources on how to reach out to an unreached people group and specific people group profiles can be found at these Web sites:
- Presbyterian Frontier Fellowship
- Joshua Project
- Bethany World Prayer Center
- Email or call (818) 398-2468 the Presbyterian Center for Mission Studies for profiles on peoples with whom the PC(USA) has a growing relationship.
What are the needs of your group? – As you discover the needs of your people group, ask how your church can best help. Remember, the overall goal is to see that a church is planted and growing, but there are many other important steps along the way.
Scout Out the Land – At some point, you may wish as a congregation to send someone (or a team) to visit the people group. This will call for cultural sensitivity and wisdom. You will want to contact the International Evangelism Office at (888) 728-7228, x5262 as you plan. The returning team can report back its observations about how your chosen group might be led to be responsive to Christ.
Be part of a network – The Office of International Evangelism is working with Presbyterian Frontier Fellowship to form networks of congregations that are interested in the same people group.
