Together for Justice: 2012 International Gathering
August 13-15, 2012
Catholic Theological Union
Chicago, IL
This event brought together anti-hunger and poverty advocates from around the world, to address corporate globalization and its impacts, share global perspectives on food, land, water, trade and the extractives, learn how the Church is engaging in this work, as well as learn practical skills for engaging in advocacy and campaigning.
Joining Hands is a committed global network standing in solidarity to work for justice and the restoration of the Earth, and the rights of people to claim the life abundant promised by God.
The overall objectives of the International Gathering were:
- To explore the systems and shared realities of globalized poverty and hunger
- To learn how to take action now for positive social change in the future
- To draw on our faith and sense of social justice to heed our common calling
- To renew our personal and common commitment to hunger ministry
