Global Food Crisis: curricula for study and/or monthly fasts

A faithful response

Food prices around the world are at record levels. December 2010 prices were higher than in 2008 when riots erupted around the world. The church responded with compassion in a year-long, churchwide fast accompanied with various actions of succor and solidarity following the 2008 food price crisis. And yet, the systemic causes of the food crisis are still is place, and hunger around the globe affects one in every seven of our brothers and sisters.

This website provides curricula, biblical reflections and actions related to the root causes of the global food crisis. Stories and reflections from PC(USA) partners in the Congo, Haiti, Cameroon, Colombia, Brazil, India, Sudan, Liberia, Sierra Leone and the United States bring these issues to life.

Please use these materials so you and others in your congregation can learn more about the situation and be able to translate your concern as a Christian into effective action in support of those who are suffering.

You can begin with any month or topic and work your way through a certain number or all of the curricula. See Introduction and monthly curricula.
